The priorities for the renovation of this 1950’s ranch were to enlarge and update the kitchen, add more bedroom and bath space, design a more comfortable living space on the first floor, and change the character of the home both inside and out. By designing second story, covered front porch and screened back porch additions, the roofline of the home changed drastically, and the horizontal character of the ranch was quickly lost. A new partially open staircase leads up to a sitting area in the second floor addition. Two bedrooms share a bath on one side of the addition, and the comfortable primary suite is on the other. The renovation provided the space this family needed while adding the quality, details and character their home had been lacking.
