These homeowners needed more useable space, indoors and out, for their growing family. We designed and built a 2-story addition at the rear of the house that included a primary suite upstairs and a large, screened porch downstairs. The existing upper deck was removed, the gable roofline was extended with side dormers to match the existing. The previous primary suite was altered to be used by the children. The new primary suite includes a generous bedroom, bath, and two closets. The large, screened porch below expands the family's living/dining areas and provides a wonderful transition to the outdoors. With a fireplace and ceiling fans, the porch area is comfortable all year.
We also improved upon the interior of the home. We replaced an awkwardly placed full bathroom in the middle of the first floor living space with a half bath and built-in wine bar area. Screens were replaced with custom, metal-framed windows and doors at the side porch - converting the room into a flexible space perfect for an office and sitting area. Upstairs the carpet was replaced with hardwood flooring, and tile and paint in the existing kids' bath was updated. We updated windows, waterproofing, and systems to increase the overall efficiency of the house. The front porch and steps also needed repair, so we rebuilt and replaced all the cracked red clay tiles with new concrete pavers.
Our EarthCraft renovation gives the family all the additional spaces they need to live comfortably in their home, and it looks as if it was built as part of the original design.
