“We are exceedingly happy with the work. SCAL is professional, conscientious, and courteous.” – Kim and John Thompson
Our task was to build a two-car garage that would both compliment the size and scale of the home and hide an existing cottage that was grandfathered in by the zoning ordinance. To reduce the mass of the garage, we placed it toward the back of the lot and designed a low-pitched roof to minimize the height. Building code required that the garage be attached to the main house. Our solution was to build a cedar arbor to connect the two structures, adding a wonderful design feature to the overall project. The brick used on the existing house was no longer available, so we used a standard red brick with a similar texture, and our painter stained the bricks three different colors. The bricks were individually installed to match the pattern of the original brick as closely as possible.
