The homeowners in this historical neighborhood needed covered parking space for their cars. Because of neighborhood guidelines, the structure could not be visible from the street and needed to be style compatible with their Craftsman bungalow. We nestled the carport structure into a backyard corner and created an open design that allowed for the maximum amount of light and views. A simple framing design included 6 posts, a flat corrugated metal roof, and curve cut rafter tails on the three beams. Craftsman style wall sconces were mounted to the posts to provide necessary lighting. The new carport affected the neighboring homes and backyard space minimally, but successfully satisfied the homeowners’ need for covered parking.
