The owners of this charming Lake Claire home needed more space for their growing family but did not want to change the character of their 1920's home. Attic stairs led to previous second story addition that housed a narrow bathroom and office space. We rebuilt the stairs, bringing them up to code. We removed the old addition and built a new gable roof with shed dormers to allow for living space throughout the entire second floor level. A vaulted living area at the top of the stairs is a comfortable space for the family to gather, and a laundry closet is conveniently located off the central hallway. Two bedrooms and a shared hall bath are ideal spaces for the children. The spacious primary suite with a large closet, bathroom, and office space complete this successful renovation. The primary suite was designed and built to take advantage of the back yard views. With this addition we were able to greatly increase the amount of living space for this family without overwhelming the house or changing the character of their charming home.
