This basement was created as part of a larger addition.  The finished space, with full height windows and doors, contains a private guest room, bathroom, laundry room, “music room” and access to the existing unfinished basement. The clients wanted to finish the lower level in a modern, whimsical style, but had to do so with budget in mind. Our challenges included hiding the ductwork while making the rooms feel spacious and maximizing natural light. We strategically dropped soffits to house ductwork while maintaining high ceilings throughout a majority of the space. The natural concrete floors fit the client’s budget and aesthetic. We used simple fixtures and finishes in the bathroom, including silver, sheet linoleum.  The rooms all have generous light and homeowners and their guests love the inviting new space.
