“SCAL Home transformed our small 1954 Brick Ranch house (1,100 sq. feet) into a spacious Mid-Century Modern marvel (2,400 sq. feet) that is highly functional and exceedingly aesthetically pleasing.” – Terry E. & Theresa S.
The owners of this 1950’s brick ranch wanted to renovate their kitchen, create a more open floor plan and add space to their home without significantly changing the character of the house or overpowering the scale of the neighborhood. Due to the topography of the property and the layout of the house, we were able to add a 2 story 1400 square foot addition off the rear of the house. Durable Hardiplank siding and wide overhangs were used to fit the client’s budget and taste. We remodeled the kitchen and opened a wall to an existing bedroom to create an adjacent dining area which opens to the new family room in the addition. The addition also includes a master bedroom, master bathroom and screen porch on the main level. The lower level contains a “music room,” bathroom, guest room, and laundry room. We also renovated the existing bathroom and added a new front porch. The renovation and addition allowed us to open up the living spaces and create the front-to back views the homeowner had always dreamed of. This renovation successfully ties into the existing house and provides the space, function and eclectic style the clients desired.
