Before/After Floorplans

Although we did not change any framing as part of the kitchen renovation, the new cabinet layout greatly improved the functionality of the space. The sink and range were previously crowded into a corner. By spreading out the appliances, we created a much more comfortable working triangle. An L-shaped island provides space for appliances as well as seating. Aesthetically, we replaced the dark colors with light cabinets and countertops to significantly brighten the space. Cabinets were extended to the ceiling with glass-front doors on top that are lit from within, providing a beautiful display space. A tile backsplash was installed and extended to the ceiling creating a wonderful texture on the window wall. A recessed shelf was incorporated into the tile splash behind the range to provide a convenient place to store cooking oils and spices. The stained wood floating shelves and venthood wrap complement the white cabinetry and tile perfectly. Our renovation transformed this kitchen/family room space into the focal point of this beautiful 1930's Morningside home.
