Before/After Floorplans

The goal of this renovation was to add space to comfortably house the clients' family of five as well as convert the style of their 1950's ranch home into a Colonial Revival. The ranch home, located in historic Druid Hills, looked small and out of place compared to the rest of the neighborhood. The (1700 sq ft) second floor addition was designed to be an informal living area for the family, including: 4 new bedrooms, 2 full baths, storage area, and an open den. By incorporating the new stairwell into the existing entry foyer, we created a two-story dramatic space full of natural light and allowed the details of the custom-built newel posts, handrail and balusters at the stair to be visible. In addition to adding a second floor, we also enclosed the existing back porch and remodeled two of the existing bathrooms downstairs (not pictured).
