The clients needed more space for their growing family but did not want to change the appearance of their house from the street. With a creative roofline, we were able to nearly double the square footage of the house and keep the space underneath the existing ridge of the roof. The new second story space included 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, a laundry room, storage room, and open common space at the stairwell. Creative use and placement of dormers allowed for interesting ceiling lines and plenty of natural light in all of the rooms. The spacious master suite included a 5-piece bathroom and large closets. The newly designed stairwell created a more open entry on the first floor and allowed the custom details of the newel post, handrail, and balusters to be visible.
